I became a tax attorney because I watched the IRS steamroll people who did not know their rights. Before tax law, I worked as a public defender. I saw what happens when the government has all the power and regular people have none. A tax case is not that different.
Spousal tax problems are some of the most personal cases I see. The marriage is over, or ending, and the IRS is still treating two people as one. Someone signed a return they trusted. Someone else made the mess.
